Tracks of Time: “Newcastle’s Journey” by Md Mominul Hamid

In Newcastle Upon Tyne city, a big train station,
Holds stories of this earth’s foundation since 1850.
Through time, it’s been a resilient guide,
History tales, nowhere to hide.
It was the first European station,
With a roof on the top.

Steam and wheels, an uplifting hum,
Tracks laid down where dreams come from.
Proud it stands, through thick and thin,
Newcastle’s heart, where journeys begin.

Bricks and steel, tales to unfold,
Pioneers with stories, so bold.
In wars and peace, it stayed its place,
A home for travellers, a friendly space.

Legends left, with each goodbye,
Love stories beneath the open pitch.
Threads of lives knitted just right,
In Newcastle’s hold, a shared light of Magpies.

The station stands and tells you,
A gentle appeal,
Hold onto the past, let the future be.
In simple words, carry me.
With your memories.

Thank you for reading. My beloved son loves trains, and we are currently reading the book train about Newcastle. Inspired by this, I wrote this poem.
